The Basics

PUPPY PRESCHOOL

Building a foundation for a bright future

Our Puppy Preschool evening group class covers a variety of topics important for any puppy owner such as the importance of socialization and tips for crate/potty training. The class also focuses on a number of skills such as name recognition, hand targeting, sit, down, go to mat, loose leash walking, and recall.

For puppies under 6 months of age

ADULT BASIC MANNERS

Our Basic Manners evening group class is designed to help adult dogs and their owners establish foundation behaviors. Whether you recently adopted a dog or are looking to refresh your adult dog's skills, this class will discuss many of the skills in Puppy Preschool as well as adult-specific behaviors.

The Intermediates

PUPPY PRESCHOOL 2

Solidifying and expanding on the foundations built in Puppy Preschool 1

Our Puppy Preschool 2 evening group class revisits a number of concepts from Puppy Preschool 1 such as recall and loose leash walking to strengthen and build those foundation behaviors. It also introduces new concepts such as stay and cooperative care behaviors. The class discusses a number of vital concepts useful for helping puppies through adolescence.

ADULT BASIC MANNERS 2

Goal specific classes to fine tune life skills

Adult Basic Manners 2 progresses the behaviors taught in the first Adult Basic Manners class while adding new advanced behaviors helpful for dog owners. The class further discusses how to understand your dog and work with them to achieve your goals. New behaviors include heel, stay, spin, & "middle."

MUST HAVE TAKEN ADULT BASIC MANNERS 1 OR EQUIVALENT

TRICKS

Fun party tricks for your dog to show off

Our tricks class is an up beat class covering fun, new tricks. It is ideal for an owner and dog team to have strong clicker mechanics and partner engagement to be successful in the class. Examples of  the tricks covered in class include roll over, play bow, leg weaves, & back up. After completion of the course, AKC's Trick Dog Novice can be attained.

MUST HAVE TAKEN PREVIOUS CLASS IN LAST 6 MONTHS OR EQUIVALENT

The Advanced

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PREP

Solidify skills necessary to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test

The Canine Good Citizen test consists of a variety of core behaviors that support your dog when out and about. The class covers each of the behaviors tested and provides exercises to build the behaviors to fluency. A variety of training games are played to provide new applications of the skills with fellow classmates.

There is no obligation to take the CGC test at the end of the course, and by taking the class, the passing of the CGC test is not guaranteed. This class is perfect for those looking for a fun goal to work towards!

MUST HAVE TAKEN AN INTERMEDIATE CLASS OR EQUIVALENT

DRINK WITH YOUR DOG

Build your dog's brewery manners

This unique class is held at a local brewery and covers the necessary skills for your dog to join you on your brewery trips! We cover behaviors such as relaxing in a new environment, loose leash walking to a counter, and remaining calm around the delivery of food/drinks to the table. This class is designed for dogs who are comfortable in public and around other dogs. â€‹

MUST HAVE TAKEN A PRIOR GROUP CLASS OR EQUIVALENT

The Supplements

WORKSHOPS

Goal specific classes to fine tune life skills

We offer a variety of different workshops to focus on specific behaviors. The workshops are 1 day sessions where all facets for the goal behavior are covered and worked through. Currently, we offer workshops on: 

  • loose leash walking,

  • recall,

  • settling skills,

  • polite greetings,

  • & impulse control.

The workshops are offered on a rotational schedule, so call or email today if your workshop of interest isn't currently running!

MUST HAVE TAKEN A PREVIOUS CLASS OR EQUIVALENT

TARGET, CAPTURE, SHAPE, OH MY!

Throughout training new behaviors, we as trainers utilize three core principles - targeting, capturing, and shaping - to build new behaviors. This workshop focuses on how each method helps us build new behaviors and tricks with our dogs and provides great training exercises to include in your training exercises.

HOLIDAY PREP

Get your dog ready for the holidays

We will be covering a variety of skills useful for holiday festivities including:

  • settling during cooking,

  • leaving food alone,

  • greeting guests,

  • & door manners.

Each workshop will highlight activities relevant to the nearest holiday!
